Maia Shibutani: Talented and Generous

posted Apr 2, 2011 5:05 PM by An Evening with Champions   [ updated Apr 2, 2011 5:16 PM ]

We would like to give a special shout-out to Maia Shibutani, an American ice dancer who performed at the 2010 Evening with Champions show with her brother Alex. Maia and Alex recently won the silver medal at both the U.S. Championships and Four Continents Championship. Congratulations to both of you for your amazing accomplishments!

Last week, Maia also received a $1,000 Scholastic Honors Award prize from the United States Figure Skating Association, which she generously donated to the Jimmy Fund on behalf of An Evening with Champions. We are very grateful for Maia's gracious gift, and we wish her the very best through the rest of the competitive season.

Maia Shibutani, you have truly shown your potential both on and off the ice. Thank you again, and we hope you will be able to join us again in October 2011.

Farewell!

Sadly, 2010 marked the final year of Lino Pertile and Anna Bensted as Eliot House's house-masters. Lino and Anna were tireless
supporters of EWC and generously donated their time, enthusiasm and funds to the show year after year. For the ten years that this couple stood at the helm of the house, they were an inspirational and invaluable asset to our show and our cause. Lino and Anna, we salute you for your support, we will miss you dearly in the years to come, and we wish you the best as your journey continues next year in Italy!

EWC 2010: 40th Anniversary Edition

posted Jun 18, 2010 1:30 PM by An Evening with Champions   [ updated Jun 18, 2010 1:37 PM ]

On April 16 and 17, 2010, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of our show! We were joined by thousands of guests, an outstanding cast of skaters, and a collection of alumni skaters eager to return to Harvard for this memorable show. See our Skaters page for a full list of those who joined us this year.

We do not yet have a final total for how much we raised for the Jimmy Fund, but current levels point to another successful show adding to the $2.5 million that An Evening with Champions has raised since its inception in 1970. It is thanks to the generosity and kindness of our skaters, fans, and volunteers that this sort of accomplishment is possible.

For all of those who joined us for the show, thank you so much for being a part of this event!
We hope to see everyone next year when EWC returns for its 41st installment!
